Can’t wait to see some guitar lesson stuff, that’s pretty exciting. Hopefully you will keep cranking out the info, we love to get all that we can. See you on the road
Steve! This new site is awesome! I know I speak for a lot of people when I say that Kimock’s Korner looks like it should be very insightful… I’m looking forward to all of the knowledge you’re willing to share! Thanks for all the good vibes! Love!
Lesson stuff!!! Yeah…looking forward to that. Can’t wait to hear the story telling…especially when a few beers get added into the mix. Great idea Steve.
Love the new web sight.
I enjoyed your lessons on Jam Cruise 5&6. Can’t wait to see your lessons here. I hope you will have a lesson on this up coming JC8 to. See you there.
Hey Steve,
Love the new website!!!
Whats up with no Settle date?? Do you not like playing here?? It seems that quite a few bands skip our town and I am starting to wonder if we smell bad or something?? Do tell. Need the skinny!!
Be well
Seattle? Tough town to work regularly, the venues keep folding, changing hands, etc.
The cities and venues that are in regular rotation are in that rotation because we have good existing long term relationships with the venues and promoters there.
Just arrived home from last nights show @ Mexicali Live in NJ; what a venue?!? The acoutics, sound, & overall groove was wonderful. Can definitly feel the “long term relationship” in that space. So… glad to have you on the East Coast, Steve what a treat. Take care and thank you for that Stella Blue last night; BEAUTIFUL!!
Be Well,
Jen Tat
Good stuff! Who knew you were so comfortable in front of the camera? Looking forward to more. Here’s something timely… Friday in Richmond the Bruce Hornsby band is playing, same night as you guys. I’ve always enjoyed your chemistry together, I hope you can find the time to connect with him, or drage him over to the Canal Club. Have a good one!
Peace, Bob
What a delightful surprise to find this bold new website up and running! Just when we thought it was safe to step away from the keyboard. Keep it coming!
Hi Steve, wonderful playground you have here, thanks for inviting us to the party.
My first question my friend is,
The major pents and the maj 3rd Coltrane matrix.
I would like to continue from where we left off.:)
I generate good lines from this matrix. I hear the Coltrane “giant steps” sound and I can use it in a blues or a one chord vamp fairly effectively.
So what importance does the pitch adjustment that I am most likely missing much of, give to this and how do I know which tone goes up or down in pitch? (from the fret)
Hi Cliff, good to see you here. We’re gonna get into that in some more detail soon, although I doubt it would make much sense to address the microtonal question first.
I’ll start with some of the more general concepts that I use and we’ll work from there. The quick and dirty answer would be don’t worry about it, if you’re doing the ‘modulating chromaticism’ bit in 12 tone, it’s all still working as what it is.
The ‘tune on the fly’ stuff isn’t always applicable on the frets at the tempos you’re probably dealing with, but we’ll get into that too.
Thanks for checking in.
steve, this is fun! retired over here in pattaya beach thailand last 2 years. from phila, been catching your shows for years. really miss it! practicing rythm guitar like a fiend! looking forward to some lessons and the fun stuff you’re doin! get back to the states every other year or so.i’m due! last show,3/30/07,trident,fairless hills pa! jonesin! don’t suppose you’ll do any gigs in bangkok? see you in the spring!!

Love the new site! Wow, I will be ready for some lessons from the master! I am so impressed with your finesse, and love for the instrument. I will practice, and learn from your intense melodic vibrations…
Steve,
Great new site. Looking forward to the Oregon run in October. Wish you could have made it back through Bend. I am looking to sell your old Supro that you signed years ago at the Crystal B. If you want it back please let me know. For all the joy you have given me through your playing I should just give it to you. If anyone is interested I can be reached at 541-408-7191.
I always wanted to ask you, when you played at the high school and borrowed the Fender Blues Deluxe
I noticed you had turned the tone knobs to zero and the presence up to 10. Could you talk about why you chose that adjustment?
Too much coffee? Not enough coffee?
Looking at the controls upside down?
Who knows. . .
Probably had too much bass so I turned it off, then it was too much treble, so I turned that off too.
Then it sounded kinda weak so I turned it up, but then it sounded kinda dull, so I turned up the presents cause it was beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . . ?
Yeah man, who nose! Hard to say what any of those knobs are really doin’ for you on the best days.
I wouldn’t read too much into that, just sounded funny turned up to me in that room, so I turned everything down and started over I guess.
Pretty sharp with the details in any event Cliff, good one!
Oh, this is so cool! Steve, can’t wait to hear more from you. Would love a lesson, or drink a beer with you and talk about kids and family. Thanks for doing this!

See you Saturday!

In Seattle, I would highly recommend the venue The Triple Door. I would love to see Kimock come there. -Andy Boyd in Seattle

Seattle is WAY up there – *very expensive* for a band on the road to drive there AND BACK… and yes it does smell a little funny.
Congrats on the new site, it’s great! Looking forward to the Korner and hey thanks for the sweet radio setup, diggin it!
Great idea and thank you! I need all the guitar lessons I can get.
This falls into the “story” category. I see 3 Explorer shapes in the background of this vid. Tell us about the Explorers, George.?
