George’s is such a great venue, i would love to do it again. Silly question, but when a room is listening that intently, do you consciously go for more subtle approaches to phrasing and volume?

Absolutely, a good listening environment encourages more subtle dynamic ensemble interaction.
it goes both ways to some extent, we can try to play like that and see if the audience cooperates, which is normally my first move unless its some big outdoor thing, but its not possible without cooperation from the audience and room.
